Beschreibung
Application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry has been very limited compared to other medical fields such as cardiology and neurology. The purpose of this work was to demonstrate, in most cases for the first time, the immense potential of MRI in various branches of dentistry: prosthodontics, cariology, orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery, functional diagnosis of temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and other branches.
MRI measurement techniques, radio frequency (RF) hardware, and signal processing methods developed in this work and supported by extensive ex vivo and in vivo demonstrations significantly broaden potential applications of MRI in dentistry and put this emerging dental diagnostic tool into a new perspective.
